Elk City Elementary and Junior High School nelsonm@jsd241.org
Class, we are about to begin a process of creating a historical document by writing a document and deciding if the men or group you chose were a terrorist or patriot. For this document I want you to do a research paper on the man or group you have picked. I hope your document will include pictures of the men or women in their respective country. If you can find any documents, or memorabilia; please get pictures of it, or copies to include in your paper. Also, you will want the popular songs while they were alive and what was their favorite movie if possible. You will get extra credit if you can find a copy of their favorite song of the time and include it with your document.

Your grades will reflect the effort you have put into the document.
I expect to find that you have indeed used spell check.
That your paper has been peer edited prior to publication to eliminate most of those pesky silly English mistakes
50% of your grade will come from what and how you wrote your paper. Did you follow the recipe I gave you and did you cover all of the items? Did you give credit to where you found your information, like using a site on the
Internet, or encyclopedia?
15% for the glossary of new words you learned
20% for your personal page, did you draw comparisons and contrasts of the event? Did you insert pictures from the digital camera or the Internet?
5% for copies of pictures or of their memorabilia
5% for including the map or maps of your person and his picture.
5% for a political cartoon of the time or event.
Do not forget if you can find the music that your subject may have listened to or a song and you have a copy with your document, yep, you now have earned a bonus 10%. J
This report is made up of five separate pages. Each of the pages is worth a total of 100 points. 10% of each page is for spelling (I expect them to use spell check so there should be few of these errors.) 40% for English and correct grammar usage. 50% will be earned for developing their content and accuracy of material presented. Their content needs to answer the following:
1. Who were they?
2. What did they do?
3. When did they do it?
4. What was the cause and whom did it affect?
5. Who was impacted and how, and how has history recorded it?
The last two pages are their glossary and their bibliography in that order. They too will be worth 100 points. They can earn up to 50 points on each page.
The glossary needs to be in alphabetical order. The definitions need to be correct and complete. Many or most of them will have acronyms that will also need to be defined.
The bibliography will be graded on page set up. It also will be in alphabetical order. Books will use:
Author (last name first). Title. City where the book was published: Publisher, copyright date.
Magazines or periodicals will use:
Author (last name first). Title. “Title of the article.” Title of the magazine Date (day, month, year): Page numbers of the article
